Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) is situated in Bangalore, Karnataka. The institution is named after former Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi. It was founded in 1996 by the government of Karnataka for the regulation and promotion of higher education in health sciences throughout the state of Karnataka. The University was initially situated in Mysore city, but it was moved to Bangalore in the year 1988.
About 276 colleges throughout Karnataka that are conducting courses related to medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and nursing, were affiliated by the RGUHS. The RGUHS is not funded by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The University is a member of The Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
